   Just the Facts Committee

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED!

 Purpose

The purpose of this Committee is to plan and implement basic training in the administration of federal aid programs that will be provided, free of charge, to novice members of the profession. The committee will recruit experienced trainers from the membership to review and customize NASFAA’s CORE training materials, and present the material in a workshop format on an annual basis.

 Composition

The committee is composed of appointed tri-chairs as well as volunteer committee members.

 2007-2008 Objectives

1. Recruit active, enthusiastic members of MASFAA who have extensive experience in financial aid to serve as trainers.

2. Plan and administer a training workshop for approximately 15 trainers.

3. Provide NASFAA Core materials and the previous year’s MASFAA Just the FACTS! Power Point slides to each trainer. These materials will be used to create customized and up-to-date presentations in a modular format.

4. Plan the training series to occur over a 5-week time span in the fall. For 2007-08, the workshops will occur only in the eastern part of the state at one site; in prior years the workshops have occurred simultaneously in the western and eastern parts of the state (two sites). In subsequent years, the committee may opt to administer two sites on a bi-annual basis. Sites must be easily accessible with preferred access to public transportation.

5. Announce the workshop series to the MASFAA membership; anticipated participation not to exceed 25 trainees at each site.

6. Produce and distribute binders of the modules to the trainees.

7. Conduct a debriefing and evaluation of the workshop series.

8. Propose and conduct a session at the fall conference that describes the workshop series with intent to generate interest and awareness.
